Carnon Downs man’s book raises funds for Perranwell Hub and I-Sight Cornwall
Carnon Downs' man Clyde Pascoe has raised £374 for the Perranwell Health and Wellbeing Hub and his chosen charity I-Sight Cornwall through sales of his recipe book which has been selling at the Hub and at local outlets for the past year. Filled with recipes from his Grandma’s own back catalogue of homely sweet treats, the book was brought together with the help of the wonderful Truro Creative Writers group who wrote the top tips and summaries of the recipes throughout the book, and who created the beautiful illustrations used and pulled everything together ready for printing. It’s been a dream come true for Clyde who is 93 and lives in Carnon Downs to see his Grandmothers’ old recipes made in to a book, an idea of the team at Perranwell Hub and Imagine If Partnership who also helped to make the book a reality.

On the 25th of Oct, almost exactly one year since Clyde’s book was launched, a cheque was presented by Clyde at the Perranwell Hub session to I-Sight Cornwall for half of the money raised. Truro Creative Writers also attended on the day to celebrate this huge achievement. The £374 raised was profit so is a massive achievement for such a humble book.

Ellen from Imagine If Partnership said “I started supporting Clyde’s book creation once it had already been collated, illustrated, proofed and the recipe summaries added in by Truro Creative Writing Group. They did a vast amount of work to make Clyde’s dream come true and to make the book happen. Since the book was created we have made several of the recipes at Perranwell Hub and they have all been gorgeous. We’re so happy with the fact that all 100 books that were printed have been sold and that everyone loves Clyde’s story and how the book came into being from just a conversation with Clyde and Sharon Nettleton, the social prescriber working for Imagine If at the time. The book’s been such a success we’re even thinking we might do another run. Watch this space.”
Imagine If Partnerships still have a few books left which you can get hold of. If you’re interested in being sent a book please email Ellen Moule at ellen.moule@imagineif.net.
