Pain In The Arts
Pain in the Arts is an off-shoot from the Pain Cafés in Cornwall and Devon and is a comprehensive approach for participants with persistent pain to use various elements of art to bring to life their own images of pain, and their own creative expression on any concept. This project is intended to give participants a creative outlet and create a collection of their art works, including drawings, paintings, doodles, cartoons, sculptures, essays, short stories, music performance, theater performance, photography, video and craftwork for exhibition and consumption by the community at large. The strategy is to expand the activity level of participants, provide them a vehicle for their voice and perspective on pain and allow them the freedom of creative expression on pain or any other topic, while revealing to the wider community the abilities and perspectives of those with persistent pain through gallery showings, publications and performances for the community at large.
