Cosy Crates reach isolated people over the Christmas Period.

Just before Christmas, our Perranwell and Ponsanooth Wellbeing Hub team delivered over 20 Make My Day Cosy Crates to people who were isolated through the Christmas period.  The Cosy Crates, which included gifts, items and goodies packed by children, their families and the community of Kennall Vale School and the Devoran Rainbows and Brownies were collected and then labelled up with our special Cosy Crate stickers.

The recipients of the Crates were identified by the Community Nurse team, Loyal Bee Care, regular Hub members and Hub volunteers. The crates were a way to bring a bit of festive cheer to their homes just before Christmas. The crates included chocolates, cosmetics, tea, coffee, and gift sets as well as something warm and cosy to wear – hats, scarves or pairs of gloves ahead of the winter months.

The Make My Day Cosy Crates project has received amazing feedback with all who have been involved; from the organisations who packed the crates to the recipients who received them on the day, and it looks as if the project may be back next year and become an annual event moving forward and could involve more of the Imagine If Hubs in the future.

Headteacher Tamsin Cocks, from Kennall Vale School (who were involved in the project) said:

"I am so glad that it went to plan and that it brought a little bit of joy to people who were isolated at Christmas. We would love to be part of it again.  Well done to you too for organising something really special."

Also emails and phone messages were received from several of the recipients of the crates, who were so pleased to be delivered such a lovely box of goodies just before Christmas. One recipient from Chacewater said:

“This is just a quick email to say a huge Thank You to all for The Cosy Crate delivered to me and my wife. Your kindness and consideration put a smile on our faces, and more importantly on my wife’s face. She hasn't got much joy in her life at present now in the third year of her illness. So many thanks to all involved.”

Now we’re into January, the Hub teams are planning a meeting to discuss Make My Day Cosy Crates 2024, so watch this space for updates on how the project progresses.
